Jan Stewart is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at The University of Winnipeg and was the Director of The Institute for Children Affected by War at The Global College from 2006-2011. After teaching and counseling at all levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12 for 18 years, Jan joined the Faculty of Education at The University of Winnipeg in August 2006.. Her new book entitled “Supporting Refugee Children”was released in May 2011 and has received international recognition from leading researchers and public figures in the fields of education and migration. Jan will be sharing insights about working with students at the Middle Years in connection with newcomers to Canada, race, and discrimination.
